Federal battery rebate super-charges the business case for Warmset FIR underfloor heating

Solar panels made Australian rooftops productive; the new battery rebate lets households keep that sunshine for winter nights.

From 1 July 2025 the Albanese Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program will slice around 30 % off the up-front cost of installing a home, small-business or community battery system. The rebate is delivered through the existing Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) and—unlike previous incentives—is uncapped, so every eligible installation can claim it.

How much is on offer?

  • $372 per usable kWh in 2025 (about $330 / kWh after admin fees).
  • The incentive steps down each year until it ends in 2030.
  • A typical 10 kWh battery will attract circa $3,300 off the install price in 2025.

Who and what qualifies?

  • Households, small businesses and community facilities.
  • Minimum 5 kWh and maximum 50 kWh usable capacity (larger systems can still claim on the first 50 kWh).
  • Batteries and inverters must be on the Clean Energy Council approved list; installers need current battery accreditation.
  • Grid-connected systems must be VPP-ready (Virtual Power Plant), though joining a VPP is optional.
  • Off-grid sites more than 1 km from the grid (or where connection would exceed $30k) are also eligible.
  • One rebate per property, but landlords can claim for each separate property they own.
  • The program can be “stacked” with existing state battery subsidies, allowing double-dipping where schemes overlap.

The rebate aligns with the federal target of 82 % renewables by 2030 and could trim household power bills by up to 90 % when solar, battery and efficient electric appliances work together.

With batteries about to become one-third cheaper, choosing Warmset FIR under-floor heating turns those stored electrons into the most comfortable, clean and energy-smart warmth available. A battery lets homeowners run Warmset after sunset without buying expensive peak-time electricity.

Now is the moment to lock in your battery and your Warmset upgrade—before the winter of 2026 arrives colder than your courage to seize the saving.
